Geely enters Pakistan Bestway Group, and the Chinese car maker has officially arrived in the country with three new energy vehicles. Bestway Group launched the Geely brand in Pakistan on Saturday 24 October 2026, at a launch event in Islamabad, and unveiled the EX2, the EX5 and the Starray. The launch introduces two fully electric cars and one range extended car to Pakistani buyers, and it adds one more big Chinese brand to a market that already has BYD, Chery and other new names. For buyers who have been waiting for more electric cars, the launch is a sign that the choice in Pakistan is growing fast.
Bestway Automotive is the sole authorised distributor of Geely in Pakistan, and it is the company that will sell and service the cars. Bestway Automotive Private Limited was set up in September 2025 under Bestway Cement, according to Bestway Cement’s annual report, and it is part of the Bestway Group. The group is best known in Pakistan for cement, but it has now moved into cars, and it will use its business network to build dealerships in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad first, followed by a wider network. For Geely, having a strong local partner matters, because buyers need dealers and after sales service close to home.
Geely EX5 electric SUV is the largest of the three cars shown at the launch, and it is the model that will compete with other electric SUVs in Pakistan. The EX5 is a compact electric SUV that was launched in China in 2024, and it earned five stars from Euro NCAP in 2025 in the tested specification. Overseas, the EX5 has a 60.2 kilowatt hour battery, with a range of up to 530 kilometres on the CLTC test cycle or 450 kilometres on the WLTP cycle, but those are overseas figures, not Pakistan specifications. Bestway has said the final Pakistan specifications will be released through official channels, so buyers should wait for the local version before judging the range.
Geely EX2 hatchback is the smallest of the three cars, and it is aimed at city drivers who want a small electric car for daily use. The EX2 is a compact electric hatchback, and overseas it has a 39.4 kilowatt hour battery, with a range of up to 410 kilometres on the CLTC cycle. That size and range would suit a family that uses a car for school runs, office trips and shopping in the city, and it would compete with other small electric cars like the Chery Q. Like the EX5, the EX2 has no Pakistan price yet, and Bestway has not shared the Pakistan battery size or the final local specification.
Starray EM-i is the third car shown at the launch, and it is different from the other two because it has a petrol engine on board to extend its range. The Starray is an SUV with a plug in hybrid system, which means it can run on electricity for short trips and use petrol for longer trips, so the driver does not need to worry about finding a charger on a long journey. That range extended design could appeal to buyers who like electric driving but are not yet ready to rely only on charging. Bestway has not announced a price for the Starray either, and the final figure will depend on duties, import costs and the chosen variant.
Port Qasim assembly is the long term plan for Geely in Pakistan, and it shows that Bestway wants to build the cars here, not just import them. The first cars will arrive as fully built imports from China, and local assembly is planned at a former Proton plant at Port Qasim in Karachi. Bestway aims to put locally assembled Geely cars on the road next year, and local assembly would bring down costs and create jobs in Karachi. Until then, the cars will be imported, and the price will depend on import duties, which will be set by the federal cabinet’s decision on the Auto Policy 2026-31.
No prices have been announced for any of the three cars, and that is the most important fact for buyers to know. Bestway has said prices, booking dates and final specifications will come through its official channels, and it has not given a date for when bookings will open. Some websites have listed prices anyway, with one showing the EX5 at about Rs6.8 million and another estimating Rs8.5 to Rs9.5 million, but those figures are guesses, not official prices. Buyers should treat any price they see online as an estimate until Bestway publishes its own price list.
Geely is a Chinese group that owns Volvo, and it is one of the largest car makers in China, so its arrival in Pakistan is a notable event for the auto industry. The brand has grown fast around the world, and it has a range of electric and hybrid cars that it sells in many markets. In Pakistan, it joins a market where electric cars are still a small share of total sales, but where interest is growing fast, and where the government has set a target of 30 percent electric vehicles by 2030. For Geely, Pakistan is a new market, and for Pakistan, Geely is a new choice.
In the coming weeks, the items to watch will be the official prices, the booking date, and the final Pakistan specifications for the EX2, EX5 and Starray. For now, Geely enters Pakistan Bestway with three cars on show, no prices yet, and a plan to start with imports and then move to local assembly at Port Qasim.
